More About Mike Uhl

When I'm not riding or planning a ride, I work as a program manager for Leidos, as I moved with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems and Global Solutions (IS&GS) business unit in a merger with Leidos on August 16, 2016.

Beginning with Martin Marietta in April 1995 and then with the newly merged Lockheed-Martin Marietta company--called Lockheed Martin--interrupted by a short term with SAIC as part of a contract adjustment, and now with Leidos, I have supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Environmental Supercomputing Center, which EPA renamed the Environmental Modeling and Visualization Laboratory (EMVL).

EMVL provides two broad areas of scientific computing support: High Performance Computing (HPC) resources and technical staff; and scientific visualization and modeling programming support.

Since 2000, I have served as manager of EMVL's scientific visualization lab. This year, my team of 14 is supporting 15 different scientific research projects.

I am a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and regularly attend the North Carolina chapter's monthly meetings held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Research Triangle Park. I possess three PMI certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) [2010]
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) [2011], and
  • Agile-Certified Practitioner (ACP) [2016]

Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization

In 2009, I completed my Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization* from North Carolina State University (NC State).

*It has been renamed to Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization.
